Scam, spam and other nasty stuff - part I

 First published 27.09.2003 - 2004-May-17 16:55:01

I just can't stand it: SPAM!! The messages keep coming in, and I keep throwing them out. It seems like a battle I can never ever win, and maybe that is the case - hope not! Usually the spams are related to 'non-branded' viagra, sliagra and other weird products that I am not very interested in, but today I found a new one in my inbox:

"Dear Paypal Member.

Your account has been randomly flagged in our system as a part of our routine security measures. This is a must to ensure that only you have access and use of your paypal account and to ensure a safe Paypal experience. We require all flagged accounts to verify their information on file with us. To verify your information, click here [links to http://www.paypal.com/@211.113.186.42/pp/processing.htm] and enter the details requested. After you verify your information, your account shall be returned to good standing and you will continue to have full use of your account.
Thank you for using PayPal!

Please do not reply to this e-mail. Mail sent to this address cannot be answered."

Yeah, right - whatever!!! I don't even have a PayPal account so why on earth would I want to verify anything at all??? For a moment there I was actually tempted to open the link.....

So it's begun....

For a long time I have wanted to setup a web log. I've been searching for software, I've been searching for scripts, I've been searching for just about anything that you could think of, and finally I found Blogger! I'm amazed - it enables me to do what I want, and yet it costs absolutely nothing. That is rare nowadays.

Check it out!
