Metateque, a great little blogging tool! -

Metateque is a small program which runs on your pc. If you have server space out there like me, and if you are not allowed to run scripts on that server, like me, Metateque is the perfect solution for creating your own blog.
OK, so it has its little glitches here and there, but it's for free, and it works! The files are ftp'ed to your server from within the program while the database resides on your harddisk. As you should with any other important stuff, make sure you have backups of your files just in case.
If you know html programming, creating your own template is quite easy. I don't know if it will let you do style sheets, but there is nothing wrong with pure html.

I really enjoy it when I run into sites like Wolfram Web Resources. They've got links to everything you want to know about math, astronomy, calendars, chemistry and physics. Do you feel like checking out a mathematical formula? Visit Mathworld or Wolfram functions site. The site even has a tool to solve integrals online.

I just ran into this one a few days ago: Mamma. It's a great meta search engine as far as I am concerned! I searched for my own website Just blogging along, and it popped up straight away. Of course your webpage has to contain meta tags to show up in this search engine, but check it out! Compare it to other, more popular search engines that don't use meta tags and see how far you get.
If your site doesn't contain meta tags such as keywords, maybe you should add them? Just a thought.....
Another meta search engine I've used a lot is Metacrawler. Have a go at it.

I don't particularly like Internet Explorer, and have been on the lookout for alternative browsers for a long time. Of course, everyone is aware of Netscape, and a lot of people know about Opera, but who knows about Firebird or Slimbrowser??
Firebird is a stripped down browser based on Mozilla. The most commenly known browser based on Mozilla is Netscape. Firebird is still under construction, but unlike IE it already supports features such as pop-up killer and tabbed browsing. The current version is 0.61, and the download size is 6.8MB for Windows based systems.
Slimbrowser uses the Internet Explorer rendering engine, and like Firebird, it supports tabbed browsing and it has a built-in pop-up killer. The current version is 3.80.1. The download size is 1.2 MB, and of course you can use addins and plugins such as InstantGet.
InstantGet is a freebie alternative to any expensive download manager you can think of. It supports Clipboard Monitoring, ftp and http protocols, seamless browser integration and a lot more. Check it out!
